Sexism in Street Fashion / by ALT Magazine

Street fashion is sexist. It was not until I saw the “GIRLS” page on Highsnobiety that I realized how sexist the industry is. Almost every thumbnail of the blog posts portrays women in a sexual way, catering towards their majority male audience.

For me, street style is not only the clothes that you wear but also a way to express yourself and your cultural background. ALT has been promoting diversity and emphasizing the social justice potential in street style since day one. People need to become aware of this issue and stop remaining silent.

Female streetwear does not mean showing extra skin.
